Bethlehem Conservation Commission Minutes

January 15, 2026

Minutes by Chris Jensen

 

Attendees: Cheryl Jensen, Joanne Jones, K.P. Petersen, Rachelle Lyons, Wendy Aldrich Jordan and Colin Lunetta. Chris Jensen (alternate).

Absent: Veronica Morris. Ivan Ash.

Guest: John Shatney of Prospect Street.

 

The meeting began at 5:03 p.m.

 

Minutes

The minutes of Dec. 18, 2025 were reviewed and tweaked. Ms. Jones made a motion to adopt. It was seconded by Ms. Aldrich Jordan and passed. Ms. Lyons abstained.

 

Treasurer’s Report

Ms. Jones said the savings account has $16,186 and 46 cents. This includes funds from the land-use change tax. The checking account has a zero balance.

 

Appointments

Ms. Jones made a motion to appoint K.P. Petersen for a term of three years starting on April 1, 2026 and ending on March 31, 2029. It was seconded by Ms. Lyons and unanimously approved.

 

Ms. Lyons made a motion to appoint Colin Lunetta for a term of three years starting on April 1, 2026 and ending on March 31, 2029. It was seconded by ???? and unanimously approved.

 

Ms. Jensen made a motion to appoint Wendy Aldrich Jordan for a term of three years starting on April 1, 2026 and ending on March 31, 2029. It was seconded by Ms. Jones and unanimously approved.

 

Ms. Jensen made a motion to appoint Rachelle Lyons for a term of two years starting on April 1, 2026 and ending on March 31, 2028. It was seconded by Ms. Petersen and unanimously approved.

 

Ms. Jones made a motion to appoint Chris Jensen as an alternate for a one-year term starting on April 1, 2026 and ending on March 31, 2027. It was seconded by Ms. Petersen and unanimously approved.

 

Those recommendations will be forwarded to the select board.

 

Public Input

Mr. Shatney said he is a hunter and after seeing the “no hunting” signs is confused about the boundaries of the town forest. He said he worries about inadvertently hunting in the wrong place. He said he had trouble finding information at town hall. Ms. Jensen said she doesn’t understand why that information was not available and Ms. Jones said there are some markers, but there are plans to add more.

 

The Commercial-Industrial Noise Ordinance Mailer

There was a discussion about the format and the wording and appreciation for the excellent work by Ms. Petersen. After some tweaks, a final design was approved.

Ms. Jensen made a motion to have Harrison Publishing print 1,550 flyers at a cost of about $237. It was seconded by Ms. Jordan and unanimously passed.

 

Conservation Commissions Gathering

Ms. Lyons said the meeting is planned at The Rocks on January 29th at 5:30 p.m.

She was thanked for her herding-rabbits organizational work.

 

Legislative Action

Ms. Jensen provided an update, including the continued concern about House Bill 639.

 

Adjournment

Ms. Jensen made a motion to adjourn. It was seconded by Ms. Jones and unanimously approved. The meeting concluded at 6:46 p.m.
