Attendees: Nancy Strand, Julie Seely, Andrea Bryant, Barry Zitser, Chris Jensen and Paul Karpawich.

Guests: Allegra Wright and Casey MacDonald

 

The meeting began at 6 p.m.

 

USDA Update

Ms. Strand said USDA has informed town administrator Mary Moritz that revisions to the Aries’ plan are needed on the request for proposals to make them compliant with federal regulations.

 

That will require going back to Aries about changes. It means a delay in getting the bids out again and May could be the earliest for any bids to be opened.

 

However, it was noted that Casella has pushed the closing date deeper into 2027, providing breathing room.

 

Draft Letter to the Editor

Ms. Bryant offered a draft on House Bill 593 and concern over it allowing a cancellation of agreements between the town and Casella Waste Systems. There was a lengthy discussion and revisions. Ms. Strand made a motion to adopt and send the letter. The motion was seconded by Mr. Jensen and unanimously adopted with many thanks to Ms. Bryant for the initial draft.
