Minutes of December 20, 2024 were approved.
AH made a motion to go into non-public session. CJ seconded.
2024-39 (PS) Applicant does not qualify for welfare. She needs rent money or will be evicted. She has had a number of incidents recently in her life that have caused her to get behind in her rent and currently owes rent for three months. She makes about $3500 a month and has $1200 a month in car payments among other regular monthly payments. CJ made a motion to pay the three months’ rent. TL seconded. Discussion ensued. The applicant has good income but has had some unusual circumstances in her life. Concern was raised about setting a precedent for covering this amount. AH suggested to talk to the applicant to see what she could put into the amount and we would offset the balance. CJ made a motion to amend his previous motion to cover up to what is needed with the applicant contributing what she can reasonably do to pay the amount in full and when she gets back on her feet, it would be nice for her to consider a donation to Bethlehem Cares. AH seconded the motion. Motion passed.
DF mentioned that one of the past applicants that we assisted has moved into a new apartment and life for her and the children has greatly improved.
CJ made a motion to come out of non-public. AH seconded. Motion passed.
TL made a motion to adjourn. CJ seconded.
